Srishti SINDH Concert Sitar
Aged premium Indian tun wood (mahogany).
Nothing spared in the making of this instrument. It
features many design elements of the old Kanai Lal
shop without being over the top. Modern style tarab string
outlets. Comes with a specially made fitted
fiberglass case and separate fiberglass top tumba
case. You'll notice all natural materials for the
bridge and fittings, the langot has been carved from
wood and reinforced with antler on the string
contact portion.
The meru (nut) has been slightly angled for
the kharaj strings to be in tune when fretted,
something we thought we'd try and it worked. The
solid Kanai Lal style headstock increases the
sustain by a large degree. Quartersawn wood for the
neck, flatsawn on the tabli. Specially designed main
pegs, this sitar includes a spare main peg also.
We've had Scott Hackleman revoice the jawari, the
sustain was so good a Nodu Mullick type jawari was
in order. There is a 14" tabli width, a decent sized
sitar reminiscent of the grand sitars of the past.
Custom orders are available to your
specifications.
This sitar has been
air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to
preserve its quality.
