Barun Ray ~ Hiren Roys son
Surbahar
~ mahogany (2012)
pre-owned
This instrument originally sold by us,
recently the owner decided to sell it as he is not
continuing to play Indian classical music. It has
original fitting, was mostly unplayed and all
fitting and polish updated here. This was
made in 2012 back when aged wood was still on hand
at the Hiren Roy shop.
7 main strings and 11 sympathetics featuring a
1/2 open jawari. Synthetic materials for nuts and
main bridge with brass langot.. Bone bridge for
sympathetics. It has a 16 1/2 inch tabli. The footrest is integrated to fit well in the
case. Decorations are traditional gulab patta design
with a makara headstock carving. The headstock is
slightly tilted to counter string force also.
The sound is very sweet, this is for
someone who prefers a more subtle veena type sound.
Sympathetics are responsive but set to sound only
when the exact note is reached. Can be opened,
adjusted to the buyers preference of course but it's
a pleasant instrument to play and listen to. Gourd
polish stabilized here over 4 months, polish on wood
surfaces is very thin.
Fiberglass case, string set, hook, chalk,
and an extra fitted bridge with replicated jawari
included in the price.
Fully fitted and ready to go or additional final fitting done here
to your specifications.
Sold, sorry!
