From one of the premier instrument makers in Miraj, Waseem is by far the best carver and designer in India. This type of work has not been seen since the legendary Kanai Lal & Brother instruments.

Aged tun/mahogany wood, flat back one piece 'gourd'. Natural bridges and langot with modern phulia. Finish is shellac, geared main pegs with hardwood sympathetic pegs. Full decoration carving with beautiful inlays in the kalamor style. Built in McIntyre ST08 piezo internal pickup included.

Sound is resonant with good sympathetic response and sustain, right in the middle with round jawari. . Secondary and final fitting done here at the edge of the world by yours truly. This is somewhat of a newer style offering a pure surbahar tone but less fragile and more portable than a traditional surbahar with gourds. It has it's own fiberglass case as well.

I've known Waseem for a very long time and happy to now be offering his instruments. We visit up to twice yearly and are in constant touch, the instruments are a nice combination of both of our skills together!

Waseems instruments are each unique so there are no carbon copies although a nearly exact model can be ordered if desired.
