Aged premium mahogany (tun) wood. Solid wood construction and simple design with smooth pegs. Design and sound inspired by Hiren Roy who was a big influence on this maker. Strings are set to a typical instrumental tuning in C#/D which is 1 octave higher than a traditional male tanpura.  The sound and quality are fantastic! Comes with a fiberglass case by DK Das included in the price. This tanpura has been air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to preserve its quality.

Srishti Tanpuri

4 String

Suitable for vocal or instrumental use with wound string bass conversion. Also called 'Tambouri'.

Made of tun/mahogany wood. Fully carved and decorated in dual colored penwork. Swirl carved main pegs with bone bridges and hardware and round-wound strings.. Usually these are spray finished, can be ordered with shellac if needed. Tuning is C to D in the bass octave. Other tunings available by special order. Comes with a gig bag included in the price. There will slight variations in the decoration depending on what's available. This tanpura has been air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to preserve its quality.

Miraj is famous for their tanpuras and they come in many styles, sizes, and decorations. Male,Female, instrumental, in full size gourd or flatback as well.

The one shown here is a regular style with hemraj style carvings in a nice dark thin shellac polish. Full size male tuning with fiberglass case included.

They sound incredible! If you'd like one then we are happy to have it made for you with secondary setup done here at the workshop. Shipping is a bit expensive but possible as well as shipping direct.
