Full decoration ~ tun wood

From one of the premier instrument makers in Miraj, Waseem is by far the best carver and designer in India. This type of work has not been seen since the legendary Kanai Lal & Brother instruments.

Aged tun/mahogany wood, single piece Miraj gourd. Natural bridges with modern phulia. Finish is shellac and pegs are hardwood. Top tumbi is quite large. Full decoration carving with beautiful inlays and hollowed carved headstock. Langot is carved wood with main strings mounted tanpura style.

Sound is resonant with good sympathetic response, more on the open side. Waseems bodies are easy to handle and not too heavy. Secondary and final fitting done here at the edge of the world by yours truly.

I've known Waseem for a very long time and happy to now be offering his instruments. We visit up to twice yearly and are in constant touch, the instruments are a nice combination of both of our skills together!

Waseems instruments are each unique so there are no carbon copies although a nearly exact model can be ordered if desired.
