The top of the line from Monoj Kumar Sardar in Kolkata. We haven't stocked these since carrying them with Sitars Etc. and finally asked them to make one for us only with a little fancier decoration in the penwork. This is a nice sitar with a more closed jawari  on the baaj and a nice low action with a responsive taraf sound. More suited toward Nikhil Banerjee fans or the Vilayat Khan style player looking for a kharaj pancham style. Monoj Kumar Sardar finishes their sitar in lacquer which is more resistant to temperature changes. This sitar has modern style grommets for the sympathetic strings and a unique brass yoke for the upper tumba mount. It has very resonant sympathetics with half closed to closed main string, medium chikari sound. Monoj Kumar Sardar instruments are not shellac finished but they use poly spray.

The price includes a fiberglass case for the sitar and gourd.. This sitar has been air shipped and fitting supervised by our partners in India.
