Radhey Shyam Sharma Angoor teak concert sitar.
7 main strings ~ 13 sympathetics
~ Ravi Shankar/kharaj pancham style.
Made from aged salvaged teak and set up in kharaj pancham
style, you can even see the original nail marks on
this one on the wood. It has Angoor carvings with a
few hints of roses and single color penwork on the
inlay. 13 3/4 inch wide tabli (soundboard) Has a half open jawari done and easy action
with synthetic bridges. Radhey also uses a soundhole in the top of
the neck just under the tar gahan which works rather well. Floral main pegs with
bone tipped hardwood sympathetics and modern style sympathetic grommets. Radhey's
teak sitars project well and have a sound and
playability that equal the quality of workmanship
you see here. This sitar
was personally selected by us in Varanasi, fitted to
our specs and air shipped to our shop. Comes with a
fiberglass case and padded bag for the upper gourd. A remarkable
instrument from a great maker!
