Simple Gulab patta (rose) design in half decoration with palm design on tumba. Synthetic bridges and langot and nicely made pegs including sympathetics.. Suman Karmakar continues to impress me with his attention to sound and detail. His instruments are thicker like we used to get years ago and require some break-in with a big reward of sustain and warmth over time. He's heavily influenced by the old parlor type dark "butter smooth" sound of Hiren Roy and his instruments reflect this. A highly under-rated maker maintaining traditional style of fitting and never mass produced. Recommend for players who like a decent half open sound. Add and extra bridge with sitar purchase for $50, will be fitted and jawari complete and will keep a duplicate here for future needs. A great choice for those looking for the classic smooth Kolkata type of sound at a nice price..
