This beautiful sitar features a solid mahogany tumba and extensive inlay with natural bridges and double cut slots. Geared tuners for the main strings and sympathetics. Fret tying done with nylon per our request so that the decorations are visible on the back of the neck. With a 14 1/2 inch full sized tabli (!) it is acoustically very nice for a studio sitar and has decent volume equivalent to a traditional sitar.... the headstock is designed for ease of tuning. Has a sturdy jack with built in transducer.  Comes with a fiberglass flight case. Original Miraj construction, not an imported body from Kolkata as the majority of instruments are now in Miraj. Has an 3/4 open jawari, nice resonant tone with full kharaj tone as well and excellent fitting all around. I've been asked to get a sitar like this made over the years and am happy with the result. Especially impressive is the balance, it's not overly heavy as one would expect. Do expect more sensitivity on the sympathetic strings as the angles can be dramatic. Fully carved and extensive inlay!

Naeem comes from the oldest family of instrument makers in Miraj and makes a wide variety of instruments, we work with him closely on custom pieces and this is the first, we will get 1 to 2 per year. This sitar has been air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to preserve its quality. Please consider this if comparing to other instruments.
