Bashir Angoor Patta (grape leaf) and Sheesham wood

Kharaj Pancham sitar.

7 main strings ~ 13 sympathetics ~  Ravi Shankar style.

Made from aged mahogany with a medium dark finish. Like most sitars from Bashir this one is unique in decoration with angoor carvings on both the tumba and the tabli. Bottom gourd is from Pandipur in Maharashtra as all of the BM sitarmaker sitars are. The strike plate, neck rails and surrounding the headstock is hardwood (sheesham). Composite bridge with natural materials for all hardware. The top gourd is spun wood. One of his finer instruments, this sitar has been air shipped (as are all of our instruments) to preserve its quality. Please consider this if comparing to other instruments. Sold out, sorry.
